The word "courage" means to speak one's mind and reveal one's heart. Honey Bee Courageous is my heart on display. Here you will find my passion for both tea parties and end of life care.
Both endeavors require a special kind of bravery. Sitting with strangers at a tea table and engaging in open, heartfelt conversations calls for courage. In these moments, I’ve seen magic and healing unfold when we embrace vulnerability and connection.
Facing our own mortality or that of a loved one demands another form of courage. My purpose is not to paint death as something positive, but to invite the idea that death is apart of life. Embracing this reality can uncover a deeper kind of magic. When we allow ourselves to be present in times of great emotion, life’s richest treasures can be found.
This path is not for the faint of heart, but for those who are truly courageous.

My name is Betty Jackson, friends call me
Honey Bee.
I spent my childhood in my Aunt's cozy California home, a unique space that also served as a small assisted living community. It was here that I witnessed my aunt tenderly care for those nearing the end of their lives, and offering emotional support to their families. This early introduction to dying and death presented it as a natural part of life for me.
In this nurturing environment I discovered my boundless imagination and creativity with tea parties being one of my favorite ways to play. These moments in my aunt’s home helped shape my understanding of life's delicate balance.
Years later I became an Activities Director in a North Carolina assisted living facility. In that role I continued to deepen my understanding of life and death. These experiences taught me the importance of facing death with presence and embracing life with vulnerability, love, and joy. I came to realize that death isn’t to be feared but is an integral part of our existence, guiding me to my calling as an end-of-life doula.
Through my work as a Death Doula, my hope is to help others reflect on their own thoughts and feelings around death. If we can embrace our fear death becomes the key that can unlock the full potential of our lives.
